Why dont the present shapes of the continents fit perfectly together

Convection current in the mantle causes the lithospheric plates to move. Movement of the lithospheric plate is called plate tectonics. Pangea was separated into different continents because of plate tectonics.

The edge of the continents was continuously changing overtime because of the effects of weathering and the destructive power of ocean waves destroying headlands or edge of the continents. There are also several islands formed overtime due to volcanic eruption and hot spot, one very good example is the Philippine island and the Island of Hawaii. The present shape of the continent dont fit perfectly today because of those factors mentioned above.
